Silver and Gold Masonic French Verge (Pocket Watch)

    

A late 18th Century French verge in a silver and gold consular case with Masonic decoration. Full plate gilt fusee movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator. Round pillars. Wound through the white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, fine pierced gilt hands. Unusual silver consular case decorated with applied gold "pique" pins to the bezels. The back set with applied gold and silver Masonic symbols within an oval.  Signed: Amel at Fils - Mopteau.  Circa 1780.  The dial measures 42 mm in diameter.
