1892 25th Knight Templar 25th Triennial Conclave Anheuser Busch Matchsafe

This is an 1892 nickel plated brass purse-type matchsafe made to commemorate the 25th Knights Templar Triennial Concave in Denver, Colorado.  One side introduces the Conclave and date, the other pictures the Anheuser Busch trademark logo with the large "A" and Eagle, wings within the "A".  The top of the lid is stamped "Patented Aug. 14, 83."   Another interesting thing is Adolphus Busch's name is engraved on the cross bar of the A.  Was he a Templar?  I haven't seen this in other Anheuser Busch collectibles.  Could he have made a special gift of these to the Knights attending this Conclave?... possibly to get the beer concessions?   It measures 3 inches by 1 1/2 inches.   The manufacturer was the Edward Hauck Co. of Brooklyn, NY.

Below is an Official Invitation to the 1892 Conclave

We would like to "Thank" Mr. George Sparacio, a member of the International Match Safe Association Executive Committee for his excellent descriptions of many of the fraternal matchsafes seen in our museum collection.  George is also a matchsafe collector and enthusiast and can be contacted at his e-mail address:  mrvesta1@aol.com   He maintains a personal web page with additional contact information at:   http://members.aol.com/mrvesta2
