This early Past Masters Jewel belonged to Worshipful Brother Joesph Griggs who lived from 1751 to 1840.  The jewel also states that W.Bro. Griggs was an Officer in the Revolutionary Army which fell under the ultimate command of General George Washington.  The face of the jewel bears the all the symbolism of Blue Lodge and York Rite Masonry.  This was the beginning of Past Masters Jewels... Our Past Master Jewels today most-likely evolved from these early models.
