Each year Syria Shrine Temple produced novelty glass items to commemorate the Imperial Council Session that they were to attend.  These glass items were sold and traded much like todays baseball cards and pins and were the most sought after collectibles at these conventions.  Syria Temple commissioned Westmoreland Glass Co. and United States Glass Company to produce a different glass each year with a "theme" suited to the city that they were visiting.   The year this double fez shot glass was made, 1909, the Imperial Session was held in Louisville, Kentucky.    This shot glass, made in clear ruby and black glass is an original made by the Westmoreland Glass Co.  It is hand-painted in white, gold and silver and measures 2 1/4  inches tall.   They are very popular yet hard to find.
